PROJECT SUMMARY
"REMNANTS" is a film that will break new ground in Large Format production, combining state-of-the-art motion controlled, black & white time-lapse cinematography with highly stylised post-production digital manipulation, set to a music score by former Tangerine Dream member Johannes Schmoelling.
It will explore the extraordinary culture of the Megalithic peoples of Europe, who flourished for 2500 years before vanishing almost without trace. In a time before the written word, this culture constructed thousands of stone monuments, and demonstrated highly advanced knowledge of geometric principles - designing them with astonishingly accurate astronomical significance, revealed only after intense investigation in the 20th century. Their efforts culminated in a climax of observatory building in approximately 1850 BC, with one of the world's best known sites: Stonehenge.
What happened to this great civilisation remains almost completely unknown, and the film will pose provocative and disturbing questions to our own contemporary culture. History has proven repeatedly that no civilisation can last indefinitely. Is it not likely that we shall share the same fate?
